Jeju Island with Dad (Part 1)

First Night in Jeju

Monday afternoon, about an hour after our Ulsan Bike Ride, we packed up our stuff and headed to the Gimhae Airport for our flight to Jeju Island.  We even managed (by chance) to have our own private bus ride from Ulsan to the airport. We had the WHOLE bus to ourselves! Pretty nice.

On the way, we passed the outskirts of Busan where we could see miles and miles of highrise apartments. This completely amazed my dad. He’d never seen so many rows of apartments altogether.  They literally go on for miles. (He took some pics with his camera. I’ll have to find them and add them to this gallery.)

When we got there, we took a taxi to our hotel, Hotel EJ.  It is THE BEST hotel I’ve stayed at in Korea. Decent price for a great room with all the accommodations you could ask for (except big towels and a shower curtain – welcome to Korea 😛  ) – big screen TV, beefy computer with high speed internet, Wi-Fi, and even a bidet for the toilet.  Dad was a first-time user on the bidet.  He might be thinking about getting his own 🙂

Also, the hotel staff were VERY nice and took care of us to the fullest. I’m definitely giving an awesome review and an obvious plug in here for their hotel.

Seongsan and U-do

The next day was a full day in Jeju, and we definitely spent every hour of it to the fullest. Getting up bright and early, we took a 1 and a half hour bus ride across the island. Seongsan is an inactive volcanic crater on the east coast of Jeju.  It is a beautiful spot and it was a beautiful day! It’s a nice tourist spot because it’s easy to climb.  Stairs go all the way up to the top with plenty of nice resting spots to overlook the island.

It was a nice walk up the stairs to the top of the volcano. Although it was a trek, it was a breeze compared to Gajisan!

Next stop is U-do island. More pics to come!
